What we do makes a difference to so many. Boxes of Basics was one of two charities the RWC supported in the 2019-2020 season. Thanks to your generosity and support we were able to present a $4000 check to them in August.
We received the following heartfelt thank you from the Boxes of Basics Executive Director.
“Dear Leaders and Members of Regency Women’s Club,
Thank you for deciding to support Boxes of Basics with a $4000 donation made on August 17, 2020. What an amazing gift. I am overwhelmed by your generosity!
Since our launch in September 2018 and have blessed over 400 children with their very own Box of Basics. The feedback we receive from recipients is overwhelming, these boxes are changing the lives of local children in need. Because of the support we receive from donors like you we are able ti impact these children by giving them the gift of a seasonal wardrobe! Here is one example of how these boxes are impacting the lives of local kids. The quote below is from a school social worker.
'I just received a call from a parent that received a box from your organization. The mom was so completely moved by your kindness and generosity. She shared that her son was not feeling confident about coming to school prior to receiving his Box of Basics because his clothes were worn and small. Today, the child woke up 30 minutes early today to pick out his outfit. I had a change to stop by to see him this afternoon and he was so excited to show me his new shoes. I cannot say thank you enough for all that you do. The children are not just receiving clothing but love and confidence. Thank you again, I am so grateful.'
I am profoundly grateful for your decision to support Boxes of Basics. Over the past year I have loved getting to know many of your members. We have spent hours sorting clothing, packing Boxes of Basics and chatting! The time your members have donated is invaluable and I have made so many new friends in the Regency Women’s Club. I am thankful for each and everyone of the amazing women I have met through your organization!
Thank you for believing the mission of Boxes of Basics and for making it a priority to help those in need.
Warm regards,

Thanks a ton...plus!
On Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 the Regency Community came out in force to fight hunger. The food drive, sponsored by the Regency Women's Club, benefited the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry. Over a ton of food was collected totaling two-thousand three hundred and two pounds. Regency neighbors also donated $8,175.00 in cash and checks which will be used to purchase staples such as butter, eggs and bread.
The food collection was a community-wide effort. During the drive, Tony's donated pizza for the collection workers. Thirty-five Regency residents volunteered their time to make this drive a success. The amazing outpouring of generosity from the Regency community should make us all proud.

The RWC is proud to promote community service projects for educational and philanthropic purposes and will continue our mission of “Believe, Commit and Serve”.

Birthdays are for Celebrating!
The Community Service Committee has been making up "Birthday Bags" for the children whose parents come to the Haymarket Food Pantry. The bags include all the makings for a party for the birthday child ~cake mixes, canned frosting, baking pans, candles, plates, napkins, party hats, blow-up noise makers and some candy ~ all in a pretty birthday bag. The children are thrilled and the parents are happy because even though they may not be able to afford a gift, they can give their child a party. As this is not a funded project, the supplies have been donated by CSC members.
Thanks to your generosity, we are able to supply birthday bags through April. We will resume collection in May and June, so the Summer birthdays are covered!
Any questions, please contact Joanne Burger at 703-868-2460. Thanks you in advance for your generosity!

Miss Ability Pageant 2019
A Magical Experience!
The undersea theme was quite evident in the stage decorations for the Miss Ability Pageant on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Eleven members of the RWC, Carole Larkin, Pat Valle, Pat Schneider, Beth Magnone, Heather Cohen, Fran Gallagher, Carol Bowen, Jean Ainslie, Mary Ginty., Nancy Converse and Joanne Burger, attended.
It was a festive time as these young ladies showed off their talents ~ from lots of songs (one even sung a cappella and another “signed” a song using her skills at ASL), dance routines and cheer leading lessons! The girls were escorted out in their fancy dresses and the evening was capped off with everyone being a winner and getting a prize complete with a sash, a tiara and the bags the RWC Community Service Committee put together for them! It was a heart warming event and it was wonderful that so many of our club were able to attend. Hopefully even more will be able to attend next year ~ it’s definitely worth it!

The Community Service Committee Members Assembling the Gift Bags
Annual 'Thank You' Cookie Project
Once again, the “Cookie Brigade” outdid themselves. Community Service Committee members made about 70 dozen cookies and brought them to Connie Mayhugh's house for sorting and packing. Three large trays went to the Fire station on Antioch Rd and three more to the Evergreen station. We brought three to the staff at Gainesville Rehab Center and we still had more cookies, so we gave sweet treats to the gate guards, the golf pros and the Regency staff at the club house. Thank you so much ladies - you always come through!
Thank you for the Warm Fuzzies!
Thanks to you, the Regency Women's Club Community Service Committee delivered over 350 teddy bears and other assorted stuffed animals to the emergency room at NOVANT Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center.
The teddy bears will be given to children who come in for treatment and need a little "warm fuzzy". Thank you again for your generosity! Many thanks to Joanne Burger, Sandy Darne, Pat and Tom Valle, Joan Hughes, Kate Connelly, Gladys Reichlen, and the Community Services Committee members for their support to this important project. |

From the “2018 Angel Giving Tree Program” Committee
Thanks to YOU, the “Angel Giving Tree Program” was a great success again this year,
We would like to thank everyone that participated in the “2018 Angel Giving Tree Program”.
- We delivered 136 children gifts, for 24 families to PACE West School on December 17th.
- On December 18th we delivered seven Senior Baskets (5 female baskets and two male baskets) for seniors who are homebound in Prince William County
The total number of gifts donated this year, 2018 was 150 with a value at $35.00 each with an estimated grand total value of $5,250.00. We would not have been able to do this without your participation and generosity.
This will bring our estimated accumulated total since 2006 to: $49,565.00.
We want to thank you, for your heartwarming contribution to this program.
Through your giving hearts and generosity this program has been a great success, again this year.
We wish you a beautiful and healthy Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holiday season and New Year from the, “2018 Angel Giving Tree Program Committee”:

Holiday Food Collection
The Community came through again as we filled 57 reusable grocery bags full of food for those who depend on the Haymarket Food Pantry for their next meal. This collection will make their Christmas meal (and some meals after the holiday) a bit brighter. People not only gave food, they gave special treats for the adults and children with "Good Wishes from Regency Women's Club". Special thanks go to all the people who gathered the food from the Club House and delivered it to Liz Anderson, who in turn organized it to make packing easier. The "packing party" of 11 dedicated and somewhat cold members filled the grocery bags and with the help and space of Joe Hughes' truck, delivered the contributions to the Haymarket Food Pantry grateful volunteers. Some of us saw the food supplies where clients "shop" and there were a lot of empty shelves after Thanksgiving waiting to be restocked. We're happy to be part of helping those in need and grateful that we are willing and able to do so. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to all!

Annual Back2School Collection
The School Supplies drive was a resounding success!
The Regency community is second to none in its generosity. Because of you, local children will go off to school well-equipped to learn and grow.
We collected over $3100.00 worth of supplies and $740.00 in cash and checks.
The monetary amount may be more but there's no way to tell a specific dollar amount if a people made a donation on line. In addition to the wonderful people at Regency, I want to thank the group of women who put their collection bins out (then in when it rained, and back out again, over and over again).
They are: Liz Anderson, Nancy Converse, Mary Ginty, Donna Maynard, Alice Silbaugh and Cindy Ware.
Mary Stubblebine helped sort and pack supplies and she drove her car to Chantilly once we filled it up with supplies.
More muscle power came from Pat and Tom Valle who helped load up our cars.

2018 Cold Weather Clothing Drive
We are always overwhelmed by how generous the Regency members are, Once again, we extend a great big thank you for contributing to the Cold Weather Clothing Drive this year. We brought over 20 LARGE bags of new and gently used coats, gloves, hats. scarves and socks for adults and children to the Coat Closet at SERVE. The value for these items is $3000!
For those who are new, SERVE is one not-so-small part of Northern Virginia Family Services who aids those in need. One of their many services is the Coat Closet that is available to the neediest in the area. They depend on donations and were thrilled to see how much we collected. Many thanks to the 7 members of the Community Service Committee for collecting and sorting the donations and again thanks to the whole Regency community! You are the best!

News from Pace West School
Cookies were delivered May 9th for the Teacher Appreciation Week. Fourteen members of the RWC volunteered to bake 2 dozen cookies. We delivered five trays of cookies and a basket of fruit to the principal, Mrs. Maria McDonald. PACE West is very appreciative of our two donations in the month of May.
At Pace West's graduation May 23rd, six RWC members attended and helped with the luncheon led by Pat Hovan. After the luncheon clean up, they were treated to the graduation ceremony. All six expressed the fact it was a heartwarming experience and a pleasure to be there. Attendance was outstanding and the students were so proud of their accomplishments. It was wonderful to hear one student recite her Poem about Pace West and to see a student win the Principal's award and receive the first "Advanced Diploma" at PACE West School.
