Message from the RWC President
RWC President's Message
First, I would like to say that it is my honor and privilege to serve as your President of the Regency Women’s Club for the year 2020-2021. I know the success of this organization lies within the special mix of talents and personalities and I am looking forward to meeting and talking with all of you throughout the year.
We are faced with a few challenges to start off with this year as we try to move beyond the COVID 19 pandemic.
We look forward to the time when we can gather back together in person but understand that it may be sometime in the future. In the meantime we do not want RWC to become a distant memory. We have an important role in our community and with all of your help and participation, even if not in person, we will make it through this complicated time.
While the general membership meetings of the RWC have been suspended until at least November of this year, the Club continues to thrive and contribute to support our local charities. RWC sponsored a drive for the Haymarket Food Pantry and through the generosity of the entire community we presented over $34,000 to the HFP. Once again in July of this year we sponsored a “Stock the Shelves” campaign for the newly opened Haymarket Food Pantry and our community donated over a ton of food and $8,175. The generosity of this community does not disappoint and through the work of RWC members a Back to School Drive raised $6,550. Of course we did not stop there as we were also able to raise $8,000 for our charities “Boxes of Basics” & “Sweet Julia Grace Foundation” and provide scholarships to students in the amount of $8,000 this year.
I would like to note that for a number of years, RWC has promoted the mission of “Believe, Commit and Serve”. Although our community events have been postponed, we will continue to find resourceful ways to support our local community. We are encouraged to see the positive initiatives that RWC members have shown over the last several months despite our pandemic obstacles.
As we welcome another year I would like to again thank you for the opportunity to serve and thank you all for your continued support, enthusiasm, and time commitment. We value the membership of each individual and would like you all to continue as members.
My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you all!
