June 3, 2021 Luncheon

Our first and last luncheon of the 2020-2021 season brought so many of our members back together at long last.  It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces greeting each other at the Clubhouse for this event.
We honored our Battlefield High School Scholarship recipients, Yanci Flores Ramos and Jasmin Kaur.  They each had an opportunity to express their thanks in person.  Their presentations were sincere and emotional
Then, Kelly Persons, of NoVA, on behalf of the NoVA nursing scholarship recipients who could not be here, thanked us for our support of their nursing students over the years.  She said that over a 13 year period the RWC Scholarship Fund has given over $75,000 in scholarships to NoVA nursing students.
She then read two beautiful thank you letters from the nursing students who were unable to attend, Isabella Mineiro (graduated cum laude), and Halima Sadia Aitcaid (studying for her NCLEX). After reading the letters, Kelly told the RWC members - “You are changing lives.”

After the presentation, we recognized and installed the new RWC Board for the 2021-2022 season.  Congratulations to Joan Hughes, President; Nancy Converse, Executive VP; Mary Eichelberger, VP Fundraising; Pat Valle, VP Community Services; Diana Taplin, VP for Programs, Carol Bowen, Treasurer; Heather Cohen and Glenna Toppen, Recording Secretaries; and, Liz Anderson, Corresponding Secretary.
The new Board will be working over the summer in planning the upcoming 2021-2022 RWC Season.

One we all know will be even better than ever.

We collected 350.9 lbs of food and $790.00 for the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry.  The Director of HRFP said they are in desperate need of "single-cup  foods" ~ the types of things to add hot water to or heat in a microwave.  Some ideas are Mac'n'Cheese, raviolis, soups, Ramen noodle etc.

We were able to hold our Scholarship Raffle and had nearly 20 items, including the beautiful centerpieces by Doug at the Flower Gallery, Mary Ginty's yummy jams and jelly box, and the generous basket donated by Donna Maynard.

 A  FESTIVE  REGENCY  COMMUNITY

Regency residents heard the call to "Light up Regency!" and did just that.  You'll find driving through the neighborhood will brighten your spirits. The lights and decorations are beautiful, fun, and creative.  Every street was represented in this project, so please take advantage of this wonderful display of Holiday Cheer by driving or walking through our community and enjoy the sights.
The Regency Garden Club and the Regency Women's Club thank you for your participation.
It is difficult to capture the actual effect through a cellphone lens but we hope you enjoy some of the displays in the photos below.

Dear RWC Members and Friends
 We asked, and you delivered!

An update and thanks from Pat Hovan:

       Thank You
From the “2020 Angel Giving Tree Program” Committee

Due to COVID-19, the Angel Tree Program faced many restraints, although everyone pulled together and we used Signup Genius.  We were able to pick a child from the Angel Tree on SignUp Genius.  Thanks to YOU, the “Angel Giving Tree Program” was a great success again this year.  We increased the value of the gifts from $35 to $40 this year.  A big thank you to my husband Jerry for stepping up and helping where I always had volunteers sign up to help although due to the Covid-19 I was not comfortable having so many at our home, and Jerry did an outstanding job.

We would like to thank everyone that participated in the “2020 Angel Giving Tree Program”.

On December 7th we delivered 130 children gifts, for 22 families to PACE West School.

On December 14th we delivered 12 Senior Baskets 7 female baskets and 5 male baskets for seniors that are homebound, and registered with the Meals on Wheels Program in Prince William County.
We received a plea from “Volunteer Prince William” for Critical Need supplies for the seniors due to the COVID-19.  We increased the Angel gifts from 2 to 3 per basket as requested.

Thank you for your contribution and helping to make this program a success.

The total number of gifts donated this year, 2020 was 166 with a value at $40.00 each gift with an estimated sub total value of $6,640.00.

This will bring our estimated accumulated total since 2006 to: $63,671.00
We want to thank YOU, for your heartwarming contribution to this program and it is because of your giving hearts and generosity this program has been a great success, again this year.

We had 65 children, and each child receives 2 Angel gifts with a total of children’s Angel gifts of 130.

For the Senior Baskets we increased from 10 to 12 Senior Baskets and there are 3 Angel gifts inside each Senior Basket totaling 36 Angel Gifts.

We would not have been able to do this without your participation and generosity.  We had extra help this year.  The husbands of a couple of members who have passed away asked me to include them in the project.

We hope you have a Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and a Happy Holiday season and we wish you a beautiful,
safe and healthy New Year in 2021 from the,

The response to the Regency Women’s Club Membership Drive - Thru was terrific!

It was a beautiful day in the Regency Neighborhood.

Many thanks to all who took advantage of the beautiful day to renew or join yesterday!
We received 68 renewals/new memberships during our four-hour drive thru.
People walked up, drove through in cars, and on bikes to support the RWC and its mission of service to the community.

Hilda Taschek was the lucky winner of the bountiful basket created and donated by Donna Maynard.

It's not too late to join!
You may print off a membership form from the RWC website:https://www.rwc-dv.org/membership.html
